If you're posting enough of a pattern that a reasonably competent knitter could recreate the item (e.g. Respect International Copyright, not just US/CA, and do not post pictures of patterns.Yarn dyers, spinners, or other related makers should continue to post only in the promotional thread. The exception is that pattern designers may make 1 (one) post per pattern and only 1 (one) pattern per week. It is posted on Thursdays and can be found perma-stickied in the top banner. Keep promotional content to the bi-weekly Buy-Sell-Trade-Promote thread. We're a community, not a bulletin board or marketplace.

Contact mods if you have questions or would like your project to receive the Designer FO Flair. DESIGNERS are allowed ONE post per FO and only 1 (one) pattern per week to front page. Put or in in your title for automatic flair. Don't post and disappear! Your project can inspire others if they can find the pattern or match the yarn. Finished Object and Works In Progress (WIP) posts should include design and yarn info.

Add yarn and pattern details to the comment section.Some exceptions for mega-acquisition times (like the holidays) might occur but will be explicitly stated by a moderator. Because yarn could be used in any sort of fiber craft it is not necessarily knitting specific. RECENT PURCHASES such as Yarn and/or Stash and/or Notions and or pictures of your new knitting tattoo go in the 'Look What I Got' thread which is posted on Weekends. Yarn/Stash/Notions/Tattoos are for Weekends only.Make sure to include knitting pattern information (per rule 6) if your picture happens to include a pet with knitting. Consider posting to /r/yarntrolls, r/casualknitting, r/drunkknitting or other knitting subs. Use care with humor and avoid posting memes or pictures without a strong knitting connection. Please - no memes, pets, cutes, funnies without pattern information.This includes: visible genitalia, swear words in any language, explicit amigurumi. If your post is NSFW please first think of others.We post it on Thursdays, you can find it perma-stickied in the top banner. Linking inside TEXT-posts is usually OK it allows for more background information to be shared with the community.

We filter out Etsy, Kickstarter, Pinterest. r/knitting is not here to increase traffic to IG, blogs or YT channels.
